If you have answered “yes” to the above questions, we want to hear from you!!  Sandra is once again teaching the Wedding Photography Course at Langara College’s photography program starting in September.  She is looking for both Brides and Grooms that are willing and eager to pose for the students in the class.  There are a total of four scheduled photo sessions, all held on Wednesday nights between 6:30-9:30 pm.  Models are compensated and we also have a bit of money set aside for you to dry clean that dress again:)  If you are interested in modelling, please email the studio at info@ytweddinggallery.com for more details.

We first met Joann about five years ago when she was a bridesmaid for the wedding of one of her closest friends, Karen & Maurice. We were thrilled when Joann & Neil decided to book us for their wedding.  We knew we would have an incredibly fun time spending the day with them and creating some amazing photos.

I loved Joann’s vintage style!   It was perfect for their wedding, which was held at Hycroft Manor.

Fun Wedding = Converse All-Stars!!  It was so refreshing seeing the guys (including the ring bearer) wearing Converse All-Stars instead of those plastic tuxedo shoes:)  Of course, they couldn’t leave out the bride…

Loved the speeches.  Joann & Neil had known each other since high school.  So you could imagine the hilarious stories they had to share with everyone.

This wedding was such a joy to photograph and we are honoured to celebrate with such an amazing couple!

We also saw some gorgeous table top displays from some of the top vendors in our city!  

Whenever I get the opportunity to attend such events, I never bring my camera and I never get a chance to capture all the wonderful people I get to meet at these events.  So I made an effort this time to capture some of these great people…

I am heading west…across the Pacific Ocean, that is.  I’ll be in the bustling city of Hong Kong for 10 days and am booking portrait sessions with couples, families and babies, and maternity sessions for expecting parents.  If you wish to book your portrait session with me, please email me at info@yaletownphotography.com.  Sessions are booking quickly for the May 1st Labour Day holiday but there are still some slots available so email me for details!

New York is one of my most favourite cities in the world and there’s literally hundreds of spots I could have taken them.  We wanted to keep it personal and chose locations that Kimberly and Noel frequented.  So we took a few images in the Chelsea neighbourhood.  This meatpacking district was ripe with potential and is also home to some of Kimberly and Noel’s favourite restaurants and shops.

Chelsea is still an active meat packing district so we had to dodge trucks, taxis, and workers while shooting:)  In many ways, Chelsea’s cobble stone streets and warehouses really reminds me of Vancouver’s Gastown and Yaletown locations, except New York is much older!

We also scooted indoors into the Chelsea Market to get some photos with the orange lanterns.  The whole market was decorated with halloween themes and was bustling with people that afternoon buying their pumpkins and enjoying the halloween displays.

After a change of clothes, we wanted to make the rest of the shoot a bit more cosmopolitan, so we went up towards the New York Highline and then off towards Fifth Avenue and the famous Flat Iron building.  Across the way from the Flat Iron is Madison Park, a place that Kimberly and Noel would often go for a burger pit stop.  

It was such a thrill being back in New York again.  I love visiting the city and having the opportunity to go gallery hoping to soak up all the creativity. This visit was especially great and I absolutely love the photos I captured of Kimberly and Noel in New York.  I can’t wait for their wedding this July!

Although Westwood Plateau was their choice of venue for the wedding, Jinny & Mike are very much Vancouverites.  We decided to take them downtown for more of a city feel to their images.  Photos of the couple were done prior to the ceremony and we arranged for a private meeting for Jinny & Mike so that they would have a chance to see each other privately for the first time.  I got to witness a very shy Mike with a very happy expression when he saw Jinny for the first time in her wedding gown.  It was a very sweet moment.

This is one of my favourite images from their engagement session.  Jinny & Mike had created an engagement guestbook where they used photos from their engagement session in their guestbook.  These guestbooks have been a huge hit at our weddings and is such a personal alternative to a traditional guestbook.

Congratulations you two!  We’ll be seeing you this coming July for Kimberly and Noel’s wedding!

After writing this portion of the blog, I realized we actually had three weddings shot last summer that had family connections.  My shooter Cindy & I also spent some time with Brian & Candace.  Candace’s older sisters, just as gorgeous as she is, have also graced our portfolio books over the years.

I love this image - it is truly a fleeting moment yet you can still capture all the emotion, the elation, and happiness in their faces.

Brian’s not much of a photo guy although I have to say he was a true sport.  For most of the day he did everything we asked of him and for that, we are thankful because we never would have gotten this last shot if he didn’t agree to come out with us just when the sun of going down…

I’m proud to finally introduce our new video clip!  This is a behind the scenes video that enables viewers like yourselves to watch us in action and get a feel for our style when we photograph a wedding. It’s a project that we’ve been working on for quite some time and our hard work has finally paid off!  A special shout out and big thank you to Eric Gan of Vivid Motion Wedding Films for filming and producing the video for us and Esther Celebrini for supplying the great music for the video.

Over the years we’ve worked with many families who have graciously invited us to share in the wedding celebrations of their children. This past summer, we had two back to back weddings where we reunited with two special families who we’ve worked with in past years.

We’ll start with Jennifer & Cameron…

Having photographed both her older sister and brother’s weddings, Jennifer was the youngest in the family and the last sibling we had the honour of photographing in the Tsakok family. Only a few years ago, we had celebrated Jennifer’s brother’s wedding (Christopher & Sylvia) and their wedding photos graced the pages of the premier issue of Wedluxe Magazine.

This time, it was Jennifer’s turn. As expected, the Tsakok’s did not disappoint. The wedding screamed of elegance and grace - so fitting for such a genuine couple and a wonderful family.

One of favourite florists, Hilary Miles Flowers, did a stunning job with the bouquet and floral arrangements:)

Jennifer arrived at the church in a stunning vintage Packard One Twenty.

Now that Jennifer lives out of town, we thought it would be fitting for her to have photos that really showcased Vancouver’s diversity.  So we took some photos with nature……then we got a more urban perspective of Vancouver’s changing downtown core.  Don’t the bridemaids’ dresses look so fun and flowy?! I particularly loved the fact they all had their own unique style, catering to each bridesmaid’s body type.

Tea Ceremony & Reception followed at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel.  That’s Jennifer’s niece at the bottom right hand corner - isn’t she adorable?  We did a one year old session with her earlier in the year and by the way she looks at me through my lens I think there might be a part of her that still remembers me!
Oh yes, more beautiful details and some very memorable moments.
